- Richmond Night Market: 100 N. 17th St., Richmond, VA 23219
Richmond Night Market takes place on the second Saturday of every month. The next upcoming date is August 12th, 2023. This open-air market will last from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm. There is no cost for admission.
At Richmond Night Market, you can shop for produce, handmade crafts, soap, jewelry, and more. There will also be live music to enjoy and a few stations where you can participate in group art projects.
- Barton Heights Northside Walking Tour: 1015 E. Clay St., Richmond, VA 23219
On Sunday, August 13th, you can take a walking tour of Barton Heights, one of Richmond's most historic districts. The Barton Heights Northside Walking Tour is presented by The Valentine and will last from 10:00 am - 11:30 am. Tickets are $20 per person; children under 18 may attend free of charge.
On this tour, you'll learn about the street cars that once transported people through Richmond and its suburbs. You'll also see the Barton Heights Mansion and some other examples of the city's unique architecture.
- The Colors of Music Summer Concert: 4305 Sulgrave Rd., Richmond, VA 23221
The Colors of Music Summer Concert is a free concert presented by Agecroft Hall & Gardens. It is scheduled for Sunday, August 20th, beginning at 6:00 pm. Bring your blanket or chair to sit on, and look forward to an evening of beautiful music.
This concert is performed by the Richmond Concert Band. There is no need to purchase tickets. Light refreshments will be available for purchase, or you can bring your own snacks.
- Artisan Market at Brambly Park: 1708 Belleville St., Richmond, VA 23230
The Artisan Market at Brambly Park is scheduled for August 20th, 2023. This market will last from 4 pm - 8 pm, and there is no fee for admission.
The open-air market truly has something for everyone. There are booths selling artwork, jewelry, specialty foods, and home decor. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, too.

Summer reading is even more fun when your local library hosts events! Listen to jazz musicians at the Petersburg Public Library when you attend Jazz in the Stacks, taking place August 11th, 2023, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. This is part of the Friday for the Arts in Old Towne Petersburg, so take the time to explore this historic downtown area.
